Collaborated with other developers, suggest process improvements, and provide technical guidance to AUSC management.  Surpassed  Derek works well with his peers, with other teams in the organization, and with AUSC management. He is assertive and pushes for team and organizational .excellence.. He consistently provides technical guidance to management concerning networking issues, system administration, software architecture, and various development tools, techniques and strategies. He provides honest, informative feedback and is instrumental in helping customers, peers, and management make informed decisions over a wide range of issues. 
Complete Development Activities Identified in Approved Individual Development Plan  Surpassed  Derek has enrolled in a local university and his pursuing a BS degree in Math. He also obtained his Java 2 Programmer Certification from Sun Microsystems. He is an avid reader and stays current in all aspects application development. His technical understanding of both software and hardware and his ability to communicate his knowledge to others has allowed the development team to provide timely and accurate technical recommendations, not only to our customers and to management, but also to other development teams in the organization. 
Apply and enhance our Software Development Process to make it more efficient and robust. Provide regular and timely updates to our production and development servers.  Surpassed  Derek has not only demonstrated his knowledge of software development but he led the development team in successfully executing a modified .XP style. development process. This has been invaluable in getting software from the design stage to the fielded system. He has participated in JAD sessions to capture user requirements, analyzed those requirements and created appropriate J2EE designs. He has coded, tested, debugged and deployed J2EE implementations to the production environment. He consistently produces high quality code and he has led the team in developing utility classes which are used by all of the development team. 
Implement Web-based Education Management System for Air University Resgistrar with J2EE Architecture.  Surpassed  Derek is an expert in J2EE architecture and has consistently demonstrated extraordinary knowledge and understanding of all J2EE development activities. He has designed, coded, tested and deployed JavaServer pages, Servlets, JavaBeans, Data Access Objects, XML, XSL and JDBC with Oracle 8i. He has been the key player in all aspects of our current J2EE development environment. He maintains our Linux server as well as CVS and our defect tracking software, Bugzilla. He has consistently surpassed expectations in all J2EE development areas of EMS and he has been a leader in making design recommendations that have been paramount in the success of our project. He consistently delivers well-written, well-designed, portable J2EE compliant programs that meet or exceed project requirements and customer expectations. He does an excellent job of writing extensible, reusable code that is beneficial to all members of the development team. 
Additional Accomplishments
Derek interacts with our customers and users regularly to gain understanding of their business processes and software requirements. He successfully translates those requirements to produce supportive database structures and software applications. His work encapsulates all phases of software development including application design, coding, testing, deployment and sustainment. Derek is well respected by his peers, his customers and by AUSC management. He promotes process improvement and his efforts have been crucial to the success of the Air University Registrar.s EMS project.

Overall Evaluation Comments
Derek.s knowledge of J2EE and object-oriented software development has been essential to the success of EMS. The quality and quantity of Derek.s output has been superb for two consecutive years and his contributions to this project have been nothing short of outstanding. He is involved in every aspect of EMS software development and he is a key player in many technical decisions that are made by this team and the AUSC organization. He is always a major contributor in the area of .process improvement. and he consistently surpasses expectations in all areas. Derek has proven himself worthy and I have no reservations about recommending him for advancement. His accomplishments speak for themselves and he is very capable of managing his own project. Derek is an extremely valuable resource to CSC but his full potential has not yet been exploited.
